The triad formed by al-Lāt, al-ʿUzzā, and Manāt is not merely a relic of tribal polytheism; it reflects the religious representations of pre-Islamic Arabia. These three goddesses embodied a complete cosmogony in which the feminine structured the relationship to the world: al-Lāt presided over fertility, the nurturing earth, and motherhood; al-ʿUzzā embodied warrior power, celestial vigor, conquering beauty, and astral brilliance; Manāt watched over time, fate, measure, and finitude.
